The 2022 REBNY Deal of the Year Award winner has decided to return to Compass after nearly two years at Corcoran, the company announced Tuesday.
David Mayer is a two-year luxury goods veteran and a member of one of Corcoran’s top 2023 teams, the MHS Team, which has transacted over $85 million.
Mayer is from Canada and speaks Hebrew, English, Arabic and French. During his career, he has completed more than $300 million in transactions from New York City to South Florida.
“We are pleased to welcome David back to the Compass family,” Gordon Golub, vice president of Compass’ tri-state region, said in a statement. “David will be able to leverage our technology platform as well as the unique Compass agent network to drive his business.”
Mayer has bounced back and forth between Compass and Corcoran in recent years, having worked at Corcoran from 2015 to 2019 and again from 2022 to the present. Previously, he worked at Compass from 2019 to 2022.
Over the years, Mayer became known for his strong international network, which helped him successfully sell 15 East 90th Street, the project will close in early 2023. Mayer initially represented the homeowner when it acquired the property for $14 million in 2020, then secured Italian Republic as the buyer of the property for $26 million three years later. The deal earned Mayer REBNY Deal of the Year honors.
Mayer cited Compass’ technology as one of the biggest draws that led him to return to the agency.
“Compass’ technology is light years ahead of other brokerages,” he said in a statement. “With this advantage, I believe I will have the opportunity to devote more time to other areas that are critical to success as a dual-market agent, such as cultivating client relationships, developing marketing strategies, and ultimately business expansion.”
A representative for Compass told Inman that Mayer plans to build her new team at Compass.
The Inman Intel Index survey found that many brokers have issued an increasing number of job offers over the past few years amid a slowing market and an influx of brokerage firms.
