Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell spoke at the Wilson Center’s Canada Economic Forum in Washington on Wednesday in what may be his last policy speech before the next central bank meeting.

Bank of Canada Governor Steve McCallum will join Powell to discuss “their respective countries’ economic prospects, monetary policymaking and the enduring value of the Canada-U.S. economic relationship,” a news release from the Wilson Center said.

The debut comes amid expectations the Fed will keep its benchmark borrowing rate steady until at least September. Recent higher-than-expected inflation data has forced investors to recalibrate expectations that the Federal Reserve will cut interest rates steadily this year.
