The Corcoran Group has launched its first franchise location in Massachusetts and added Corcoran Property Advisors, brokerage firms told Inman.
The Boston-based franchise, led by brokers and owners Brian Dougherty and Nick Robert, also has a second location in Cohasset on the South Shore at. The move solidifies Corcoran’s commitment to the East Coast while continuing to expand the Corcoran affiliate network to other parts of the United States and other regions around the world.
“There have always been strong synergies between New York City, Corcoran’s first market, and the greater Boston area,” said Pamela Liebman, president and CEO of Corcoran Group, in a statement. Doherty and Robert bring backgrounds in luxury real estate and retail, interior design, hospitality and new development to the new affiliate.
Prior to joining Compass in 2019, Dougherty served as director of portfolio growth for a major hotel company, national sales director for a multi-strategy hedge fund subsidiary, and partner at a luxury brokerage firm. The two agents work together at Compass, part of The Private Brokerage team founded by Doherty, with Robert joining as executive director. The team closed more than $72 million in deals in 2022, making them one of the top small-block teams in Massachusetts, according to RealTrends.
Prior to joining Compass and The Private Brokerage team, Robert held leadership roles at Restoration Hardware, where he oversaw visual merchandising in Boston and launched retail spaces in various markets across the United States. Prior to forming The Private Brokerage team, Dougherty and Robert also collaborated on the renovation and management of a boutique hotel on Cape Cod for several years.

The city has a variety of housing, from historic townhouses and modern apartments to suburban homes and new developments. Cape Cod, meanwhile, offers oceanfront bungalows as well as spacious luxury estates.

Dougherty and Robert will also lead the new affiliate’s Corcoran Real Estate Advisors team, which as of the time of publication includes eight licensed brokers. The team, which has offices in Boston and Cohasset, aims to increase the number of agents and market share in the greater Boston area for the foreseeable future.
Last week, Corcoran also announced its third subsidiary to date in Houston, Corcoran Genesis, which will focus on serving the suburban Houston market.
