Fidelity has launched a new research portal for third-party registered alternative investment strategies. The research is now available through Wealthscape, Fidelity’s advisory platform.

The research covers private credit, private entity assets and private equity funds, allowing advisors to evaluate and compare alternative investment strategies.

Citing its recent survey of advisor alternative investment allocations, Fidelity found that investment manager research and due diligence were the primary barriers to advisors adopting alternative investment products. According to its survey, more than half of advisors believe due diligence on underlying strategies and managers is a barrier when investing in intermittently liquid (53%) and illiquid (55%) alternatives.

“Alternative investments are becoming more widely available, but many advisors lack the resources to determine how to incorporate them into their portfolios,” Darby Nielson, chief investor at Fidelity Institutional Group, said in a statement. “Fidelity is committed to helping investors achieve their financial goals by providing advisors with the tools and resources they need to make informed decisions and excel in the alternative investing world.”

This is just Fidelity’s latest move into the alternatives space. In November, it launched 14 collective investment trust investment vehicles, including 5% direct real estate investments, with the option to include other alternative assets. Last year it also launched the Fidelity Multi-Strategy Credit Fund, a closed-end fund, and its first business development company, the Fidelity Private Credit Fund. 2022, launch Fidelity Hedge Equity Fund (FEQHX), Fidelity Macro Opportunities Fund (FAQ) and Fidelity Venture Capital Fund (FAPSX)three liquid alternative mutual funds available to individual investors and advisors.

Fidelity manages more than $70 billion in total alternative investment assets, and its platform includes integrations with third-party alternative investment platforms CAIS and iCapital.
