What’s one of the biggest lessons you’ve learned in real estate?
Never stop learning and never be afraid of change. Embrace the changing nature of this industry and evolve with it. What works for one trade today may not work for the next trade tomorrow.
I frequently attend seminars and attend the annual Compass Retreat with agents from across the country. Hearing how others have successfully grown a business or handled a difficult deal can open you up to new ideas and techniques.
try it. They may not work, but some may. If you’re not open to new perspectives, you likely won’t grow. You can’t expect better results in this industry without adapting.
What do you tell a new agent before they start?
Understand the market you want to focus on and don’t be caught off guard. Get out and visit all the new construction projects. Drive through the neighborhood. Attend an open day to familiarize yourself with the products they offer and what is available on (and off) the market.
Learn about the different nuances of each area and building, the different views and amenities on each line and floor. Today’s buyers are educated and savvy, and they know exactly what they want.
Which podcast taught you the most?
I listen to Tony Robin’s podcast while I’m at the gym. He has great advice on growing your business and has actionable ideas that you can apply to your business.
What is the one thing everyone should do to make their life and career better?
represent. Find the right people in your work and personal life to free up your time and energy to focus on high-priority tasks that drive growth. Finding the right people to handle tasks such as administration and marketing allows you to leverage the skills and expertise of others and increase your productivity.
If you could do anything else besides real estate, what would you do?
I would be a luxury travel consultant. I love traveling and have been to 63 countries, including Antarctica twice. I really enjoy creating luxury travel experiences for other people.
