Private markets investment platform Yieldstreet today announced a partnership with Wilshire Advisors to allow its clients to build diversified model portfolios focused on private equity investments. Wilshire is a global advisory firm headquartered in Santa Monica, California, with decades of experience in investment research serving institutional clients and $1.2 trillion in advisory assets.
The partnership will give Yieldstreet’s 500,000 members access to expanded private markets investment strategies developed with the help of Wilshire’s private markets and asset allocation experts. Yieldstreet members will also be able to participate in new private market investment opportunities sourced and reviewed by Wilshire’s alternative investments team. Last year, Wilshire’s team deployed more than $1.4 billion across 68 investments.
Yieldstreet CEO Michael Weisz pointed out that the private market currently does not allow individual investors to invest passively on a large scale. “If you wanted to invest $x in a diversified private markets portfolio today, I believe it would be nearly impossible,” he said. “With our partnership with Wilshire and their deep expertise helping advise some of the largest and brightest institutions that must deploy capital, we are able to leverage state-of-the-art technology and their deep expertise to build a Manage a portfolio that has never been created.”
Yieldstreet has announced a number of partnerships and acquisitions over the past year. These include a relationship with self-directed IRA custodian Equity Trust, the acquisition of real estate investment platform Cadre and an expanded partnership with structured products and annuity platform Luma Financial Technologies.
Weisz said the deals help expand distribution of Yieldstreet’s private market products and reach a wider audience.
“When we think about every partnership or acquisition that we’re pursuing and have recently announced, they all follow this theme. They allow us to grow faster and provide private market investments to people’s portfolios,” he said .
Wilshire Advisors offers several market indices, including the Wilshire Liquid Alternative Index and the FT Wilshire 5000. The firm’s institutional clients include CalPERS, Nationwide, Allianz, the New York City Police Pension Fund and the Government of Guam Pension Fund.
